What can cause hair-loss?
Many things can trigger and cause elevated hair-loss including stress, overall health, medication including weight-loss injections and medical or surgical treatment (even up-to 12 months post-surgery) - nutrient deficiencies, poor diet, lack of sleep, hormonal imbalances, genetics and certain scalp and autoimmune conditions.
Hair-loss conditions and their effects can come in the form of acute and chronic hair-loss and appear gradually or rapidly with their severity.
Is hair-loss always permanent?
No. Some types of hair loss can be temporary, while others may be progressive or permanent. This depends on the underlying cause, which is why professional assessment is important.
What can I do to help recover my hair-loss?
As untrained medical professionals or trichologists, we cannot diagnose you with a condition. We recommend you booking in with a local Trichologist or going to see your General Practitioner as some types of hair-loss and conditions may respond to medical treatment.
However, as cosmetic hair-loss experts we can help guide you with your journey and disguise your shedding or alopecia that looks and feels natural.

We work with clients experiencing different forms of hair loss, including alopecia. The most suitable solution will depend on the type, extent and progression of your hair loss.
What types of alopecia are there?
There are many types and formations of hair-loss, which can include scarring, autoimmune, treatment and psychological types of alopecia.
·Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia (FFA) causes a receding hairline and can also affect eyebrows.
·Lichen Planopilaris (LPP) is an autoimmune disease which causes white blood cells to attack hair follicles leaving a destructive and permanent damage to the stem cells responsible for hair growth.
·Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia (CCCA) starts near the crown and works outwards and is more common in women of colour.
·Chemotherapy-Induced Alopecia (CIA) a side effect of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation and targeted therapy.
·Alopecia Totalis (AT) and Universalis (UT) are both autoimmune destructions which signal hair to become prematurely in the shedding phase. Whilst these conditions are not always permanent, hair can regrow sporadically. (AT) is a condition which affects only the scalp leaving eyebrows and eyelashes and body hair to remain whereas (UT) affects the entire body.
·Androgenetic Alopecia also known as male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness occur different to one another although is usually down to genetics and hormones/androgens such as testosterone which converts into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which causes shrinkage and miniaturization of the follicle.
Male pattern baldness (MPHL) inherited genetics and hormones are usually the factor for MPHL. This can be presented with a receding hairline and thinning near the crown (vertex) in time this could result in diffuse thinning to complete baldness.
Female pattern baldness (FPHL) can also be caused by polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) which can cause higher levels of male hormones. Signs are often seen by a widened centre parting, often with a remained hairline and diffused thinning on the top of the head.
·Alopecia Areata (Patchy) a common autoimmune non-scarring condition that causes patchy and rapid hair loss. This condition can affect any age, gender and ethnicity and can affect hair on the scalp, beard and eyebrows.
·Ophiasis Alopecia Areata is a pattern hair loss condition occurring in a band-like shape at the lower nape of the back and sides of the head.
·Sisaipho Alopecia Areata (Inverse Ophiasis) is a rare autoimmune condition which affects the apex (top) and crown area of the scalp yet spares the hair on the back and sides of the head.
