What are vivid and fantasy colours?
Vivid colours are bright, bold and highly saturated shades that appear intense and eye-catching. Examples include electric blue, hot pink, bright orange, neon green, vivid purple and vibrant red.
Fantasy tones are less intense and appear more pastel, chalky and subtle - think delicate and light in depth.
Why does the colour always run and fade ?
A vivid colour also known as a crazy colour, is a semi-permanent colourant. You can tell a semi-permanent from another colourant as it isn’t mixed with an oxidant and is designed to stain the hair shaft oppose to penetrating it with their molecules, this is just one of the reasons to why they fade more rapid.
Do I need regular salon maintenance?
Yes, high impact fashion colours require upkeep to ensure they’re looking vibrant and impactful. This could require maintenance every 1-3 weeks depending on your shade(s), styling and care routine.
Some salons may offer colour depositing conditioning masks to enable you to maintain your colour at home.
How do I maintain vivid colours?
Vivid tones are unpredictable; they can be either gradual or rapid when it comes to fading. One of the best ways to maintain such colour, would be to cleanse your hair in cool-lukewarm water which helps reduce colour fade (this works with most colours).
Ensuring your hair is hydrated with a professional care range such as Label.M Vibrant Rose or their M-PLEX range may enable longevity, this is due to the outer layer of the hair shaft locking which stops pigments from leaving the hair. We also recommend using any electrical tools on a lower setting, including a hairdryer and the use of both a UV protectant daily, and heat protectant.
Do I have to lighten my hair to be able to be vivid?
Not necessarily, but most probably. Now this depends on your hairs current colour and your target shade of intensity. To ensure bright, neon shades hair must be lifted quite light whilst maintaining the hairs integrity. However, if you want something bright yet not specifically intense, your stylist maybe able to create the shade you want using a different technique or lifting colour, oppose to a bleach.
Can I remove these colours easily?
This depends on the colour palette you started with and what you chose to glaze with. for example, a red or copper over blonde will stain the hair and can be very stubborn to lift. Blues and purples also tend to last a little longer within the hair due to their stable molecules – yet pastel shades including pinks are the most rapid to fade
